Increase the measurement range from 260Vac to 300Vac
The measurement range of the Electrocorder is normally 0V to 260Vac, this is
controlled by R4, which is normally a 33K, 1%, 0.125W resistor. To increase
the measurement range to 300V, we must decrease the equivalent resistance of
R4 from 33K to 28K.
1. Remove the Electrocorder from any electrical supply.
2. Remove the case screws with a screw driver.
3. Open the lid DO NOT REMOVE THE PCB, locate the resistor 'R4' (33k); the image
below shows R4 on an EC164/IP65.
4. With the PCB still in the case, solder a 180K, 0.125 (1/8 watt) 1% precision
resistor in parallel (piggy-back) with the 33k.
5. This will reduce the effective resistance of the 33k down to 28K. This will
increase the measurement range of the electrocorder to 305Volts. Replace the lid and screws.
6. Now you must recalibrate each electrocorders, this is well covered in the
help file and on the support pages.
7. Electrosoft software must be a 'registered version' - you can register for
free over the internet. - When you calibrate - Electrosoft will need a single
password, this is the 'Registration Code' given to you when the software
(Electrosoft) was registered.
